Barkley Landcare
Barkly Landcare and Conservation Association was formed in 1995 and is a community of pastoralists who are dedicated to improving land and environmental management practices on the Barkly Tableland region of the Northern Territory. The Barkly Tableland Landcare region spans an area of 200,000 km² across 37 pastoral properties in the Northern Territory.
The region hosts the productive Mitchell Grass downs, a biogeographic region of resilient native perennial grassland. GMG acknowledges the use of photographs on our website supplied by Barkly Landcare.
Land for Wildlife
Land for Wildlife was initiated over 30 years ago in response to declining numbers of birds on farms. Conservationists and farmers banded together to build a program that would help reinstate habitat for birds on farms. Land for Wildlife is a voluntary program that encourages and assists landholders to manage wildlife habitat on their properties.
Land for Wildlife supplied information on native plants, animals and ecosystems on property, and advices on managing threats such as weeds and pest animals.
